Couples Therapy
Each person brings their own unique blend of emotional needs and relational strengths to a partnership. I believe that a partnership can than suffer, survive, or thrive according to how well those needs can be met and how much of your relational strengths have the opportunity to be harnessed. I will work with you as a couple to identify the challenges and strengths in your relationship and establish goals aimed to augment what's going right in your partnership and address those issues which cause distress. Examples of such goals include improved communication, establishing or re-establishing trust, increased positive interactions in your relationship, working through past hurts or transgressions, improving felt equity and work-life balance, among others. In addition to these goals, we will also work to identify those barriers which may impede progress and those supports which may aid in the process of moving forward. After clarifying and identifying goals, we will discuss how to make more educated moment-to-moment decisions in your interactions with one another that will ultimately help you to progress towards stated goals. My hope is that therapy will allow you the opportunity to make positive changes and thus move you towards a healthier and more fulfilling partnership. If you would like to know more about my style of therapy in working with couples, please feel free to contact me directly at 202-810-1518.
